Macaroni pasta about 300ml or half a 500ml box.(makes 2 pasta bowls)
1 cup shredded mild or medium cheddar cheese (can buy already shredded or shred your own)

To cook the pasta: boil a pot of water, then add the pasta, let it cook for about 10 mins, stirring it often.
Drain and then rinse the pasta once with cold water, then add to each pasta bowl in layers.
Add one layer of pasta then add a layer of the shredded cheese, add another layer of pasta, then another layer of cheese.
Finally, garnish the top with sprinkled panko flakes and chives.
Place each bowl separately in the microwave oven for about 50-60 secs to melt the cheese.(use microwave safe bowls)

If you like, add pan toasted sliced baquette to each bowl.
This recipe can also be baked in the oven to melt the cheese.(use appropriate oven dish)
Choose Your Wine
Chardonnay wines (especially oaked) are good with creamy pasta dishes; like fusili pasta with alfredo sauce, but for this cheesy pasta bowl recipe, we are using microwave melted shredded mild/medium cheddar cheese; and this
type of cheese is better matched with a light to medium red wine like:
Gamay wine from Beaujolais France, Pinot Noir wine from any wine region, Grenache wine from Spain, Zinfandel wine from USA, or a Merlot wine, which is made in most
wine regions.
For this cheesy pasta bowl recipe, we have chosen a Merlot wine made in Ontario Canada; Copper Moon Merlot, with flavours of Cherry, Spice, and Plum.
Its' price is about $12 Canadian, and it is a smooth bodied dry wine with
a medium body. It is a very good match for the fat and salt in the cheddar cheese.
