Viognier Wines

Many Viognier wines are made in the Rhone Valley region France, USA, Australia, and Chile. In France they can be oaked, and in USA, where they are often blended with Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, and Syrah.

Wine Types/Style

Viognier wines are bold and creamy, smooth and mellow, and they can also be light and spritzy like. Since they can be oaked, flavours like vanilla, cream, spice enhance this wine's taste. Alcohol content in these wines can vary from 11% - 14%.

These wines pair well with foods like: crab, curry, moroccan, chicken, grilled fish, shellfish, spicy cuisines.

Flavours-Aromas

Common are flavours and aromas of apricot, peach, honeysuckle, mango, tropical, exotic fruit, rose, pear, lemon zest. Added oak flavours include spice, vanilla, creamy, nutmeg, clove. Viognier wines are less acidic than Chardonnay, but more aromatic. They are made in dry and off-dry styles.

Most of these wines are for 'drink now', however, some of the late harvest Viognier wines can be age worthy.
