Bacon Mozza Melt Bun
Easy Recipe for a melted bun with delicious ingredients. Simply add your ingredients and put in the microwave to melt the cheese.
Choose a wine to compliment your meal's ingredients.
Ingredients for this recipe are:
cooked and crumbled lean hamburger,
pre made store bought crumbled meaty bacon bits,
finely diced fresh green pepper,
shredded mozzarella cheese,
one specialty bun sliced in half
salt and pepper to season hamburger topping.
Prepare Your Ingredients:
To cook your lean ground beef; place 1/4 lb of lean ground beef into a skillet and crumble it with a spatula, then cook on medium heat till well done.
Add salt to season and pepper.
Chop the fresh green pepper into small bit size portions.
Specialty Bun:
Slice your specialty bun in two, then add some butter to each top side and toast them in a skillet; or optionally use canola or olive oil;
Coat the topside of your bun with your oil of choice,(just swirl the buns around in the oil in the pan to coat them somewhat), then heat the skillet to lightly toast them.
Make Your Bun:
Now add your ingredients starting with a light sprinkling of mozza cheese first so when melted it will hold the ingredients together,
Add your crumbled hamburger and bacon bits, sprinkling them evenly over the top of each bun half.
Add the diced green peppers in the same manner as your meats.
To finish, add your mozzarella cheese over the meat and pepper ingredients.
Put the two half buns in the microwave for about 50-60 seconds to melt the cheese. Place a piece of wax paper loosely over the two half buns on the microwave plate.
Choose Your Wine:
Now add a glass of wine to compliment your meal. To choose a wine, you match the ingredients of your meal to the wine. So, for this Bacon Bun Melt, we have lotz of
cured meat, red meat, and nice fatty cheese topping. We also have starch, that being the white bread bun. Since red meats, cured meats, and fats in a meal are commonly
paired with red wines, that is what we will choose.
There are light red wines, medium red wines, and bold red wines. Because of our ingredients, either a medium red or bold
red would be a good selection.
A Merlot or a Shiraz wine would be good matches. Both can pair with cured meats, red meats, starches, and fatty foods. And, unless your looking for a certain taste in the wine,
you can choose from a variety of flavours.
For the Shiraz- the Mandela wine brand from South Africa, has Pepper, Spice, and Red Berry notes - $14 Canadian. The Merlot, made in Australia - Yellow Tail Brand, has Chocolate, Plum, Spice,
for its notes - $13 Canadian.

Wines typically have 3 tasting notes. These are the flavours you can expect to taste in the wine. The 1st named flavour is usually the more prominent, the
other flavours are less prominent when drinking the wine. These tasting notes are easily found on store counter labels for a particular wine brand.
