Chicken Wings and Salad

This delicious dish is prepared simply by baking the chicken wings and making your salad.

Ingredients For This Recipe

1 box of breaded chicken wings from Walmart(about 18 wings),
1 pouch of sweet and tangy BBQ sauce,
1 Express pre washed mixed salad with butter lettuce,
6 grape tomatoes

For the Salad:

This salad is pre made and washed and available at many grocery stores. I got mine at Walmart for about $3. Put the salad on the dish and add the small tomatoes. The sweet n tangy BBQ sauce can also be used on the salad.

Make Your Chicken Wings

These breaded chicken wings from Walmart need only be baked in the oven for 20-25 mins at 400 degrees. Then add them to your serving dish and add a small side of the BBQ sauce for dipping your wings. The sauce is included with the wings in the box. Look for the Walmart brand.

Choose Your Wine

For this dish we want a wine that will pair with the breaded chicken wings, the salad, and the dipping sauce. Any white wine with a crisp and light body (like Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, White Blends, Pinot Grigio) is a good match for the wings and salad, however, because of our sweet n tangy BBQ dipping sauce we will need a white wine with some good bold flavour to match the BBQ flavour of the sauce. If we don't the BBQ flavour will out do the wine's taste, and the pairing won't be so good.

Our wine selection is a Pinot Grigio from South Africa, the Two Oceans Brand, with a crisp and light style. Its' sweetness is dry, and it has flavours of citrus, exotic fruit, and floral, making it a very good pairing for our chicken wings n salad dish.

The exotic fruit note provides the bold flavour we need to match our BBQ dipping sauce. And, the crisp wine style goes well with both the crispy textured wings and the crisp salad. In Halifax, this wine is sold for about $12 at most NSLC stores.
