Pastrami Sandwich with Fresh Spinach Leaves
This is an easy to make sandwich. Pastrami slices and whole wheat bread with some fresh spinach leaves.
Ingredients For This Recipe
Most stores sell sliced pastrami deli meats, and fresh pre washed spinach leaves are usually in the fresh produce section at most grocery stores. I usually buy
mine at Walmart along with the pastrami deli meat slices. And, your preferred mayo.
Make Your Sandwich
Add the mayo to one or both slices as you like, then add two or three slices of sliced pastrami meat. Top with the fresh spinach leaves.
Choose Your Wine
Pastrami meat is slightly salty so you can match this sandwich meat with a sweeter type of white wine. There are many to choose from; Rieslings, Chenin Blanc,
White Blends to name a few. And, you can also pair with a light red wine if you prefer, like Gamay, Pinot Noir, or even a white Zinfandel (is rose colored).
For our wine selection we chose a white blend wine made in Ontarios' wine region - Canada; brand name Bodacious Smooth White Blend which sells for about $12 Canadian. It has a medium body, meaning it is slightly on the
sweeter tasting but it's not as sweet as a sweet wine as in Dessert Sweet wines.
Slightly sweet wines are usually labelled as Medium Dry, or Medium. Wines with
these type of bodies are good matches for food that are slightly salty. They also pair well with foods that are hot; usually hot sauces or hot spices. A
Medium body wine is
sweeter than a
Medium Dry body wine; and both of these are sweeter than a
Dry body wine.
For the flavours in our Bodacious selection we have Citrus, Peach, Tropical. Store labels have the flavours of the wine so you can easily find wines with
flavours you may like.
Enjoy!
