◇Batter with Haddock: Fish
with Chips
Fresh haddock in batter
Serves 2 - 3
Eat same day for best freshness.
You'll Need;
Frypan and medium bowl
Ingredients:
3/4 whole wheat flour
2 tablespoons corn starch
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 cup water
3-4 tablespoons peanut oil
1 l lbs fresh haddock.
If adding fries:
try 500grams frozen crinkle fries
Nutrition:not including fries; per piece of fish; based on 6 pieces and 1 pound of haddock.
4g fat 1g saturated fat, 14g carbs, 6.6g protein, 270mg sodium, 300mg potassium, 55mg chol, 1.3g sugar, .6g fiber.
How To Make
Cut haddock into smaller pieces about 1 1/2 - 2 inch squares. Make 6 pieces.
In a bowl, add ww flour, salt, pepper, corn starch; mix to blend.
Then
add the water incrementally, just enough added to get batter consistency.(you might use a tad less).
Batter should fall slowly off a spoon or fork.
Put the oil into the frypan and preheat.
Dip each piece in the batter; then into hot preheated frypan. Cook each side about 4 minutes.
You can also fry in a deep fryer without the basket.
Serve with oven baked crinkle fries.
Bake at 425-450, depending on brand bought.
